The spectacular Upton House Music Festival was so successful that next year’s event is already being planned. 

The three-day festival which ended on Saturday attracted thousands of people to the Poole venue.

Attendance was more than 20% up on the previous year as music fans flocked to see a host of big names, including Michael Bolton, Billy Ocean and Sir Bryn Terfel.
Festival spokesman Stephen McManus said: “We will certainly be back in 2018 and are currently in the middle of deciding which artistes we may want for next year.
“Once we have everything in place – which does take time to get it right – we will be able to announce dates and the line-up.

“I am glad so many people had such a great time. As the festival grows we are learning more about exactly what our audiences want – and we certainly take all their comments into account.

All set for Upton House Music Festival

There are just days to go before the spectacular Upton House Music Festival in Poole.

The three-day festival from Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 June features a host of star names including Michael Bolton, Billy Ocean and Sir Bryn Terfel.

And it’s a real record-breaker with ticket sales up by more than 15% on last year’s event.

The last remaining tickets are available from www.uptonhousemusicfestival.co.uk.

The park has witnessed a huge amount of activity since well before last weekend with construction of the arena and stage gathering pace.

Patrons are being asked to allow extra time to enter the arena due to increased security measures following the events in Manchester.

All tickets will be scanned at the entrances to the arena and random bag searches will take place.

Upton House Music Festival headliner Billy Ocean is bringing out a new album this summer.

R&B king Billy is starring at the three-day Dorset festival’s 80s Extravaganza on Friday, 9 June with special guests Kim Wilde and Toyah.

Award-laden Billy's latest album ‘Here You Are: The Music Of My Life’ is packed with loving reworkings of some of his favourite tracks and heartfelt interpretations of standards and classics.

It is a 15-track single album version of the double hits CD released in this country last year.

Don’t miss the chance to see one of the world’s great opera singers right on your doorstep this summer.

Sir Bryn Terfel is appearing at the Upton House Music Festival in Poole on June 8.

The renowned Welsh bass-baritone is headlining an exciting night of classical music also starring electric string quartet Escala, soprano Lauren Fagan and the celebrated BSO Concert Orchestra.

Award-laden Sir Bryn this week announced he was also topping the bill at the BBC’s Proms in the Park event in London in September.

Upton House Music Festival spokesman Stephen McManus said: “You don’t have to wait until September to see Sir Bryn – and you don’t have to travel to London.

“It is a real coup to have such an acclaimed artiste appear in Poole and we can’t wait to see him perform a selection of classical pieces as well as popular music from the shows.
“It is sure to be a special night with wonderful music throughout the evening, a sparkling atmosphere and a host of picnics being held across the manicured lawns.”
Sir Bryn, who was knighted by the Queen during a Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony in March, has performed in all the great opera houses of the world and is especially recognised for his portrayals of Figaro, Falstaff and Wotan.

Accompanying Bryn will be the BSO Concert Orchestra, the ensemble of fine musicians specially selected for the Upton House Music Festival, conducted by Gareth Jones.
The BSO has been making music of the highest order since 1893 and is a unique organisation in that it is the only UK symphony orchestra not based in a major city - the orchestra serves a whole region whilst maintaining important national and international significance.

Superstar Michael Bolton headlines Upton House Music Festival

Singing superstar Michael Bolton is to headline this year’s Upton House Music Festival in Poole on Saturday, June 10.

Internationally renowned singer-songwriter Michael will appear in an appearance exclusive to Upton.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday, February 6 and are sure to sell fast.

It is a real coup for organisers to have multi-million record selling Michael perform at the three-day festival.

He has won two Grammys, six American Music Awards and has a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

His new single, Old Time Rock’n’Roll has this week been playlisted by BBC Radio 2 and is getting lots of airplay.

Festival spokesman Stephen McManus said: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured Michael’s services for Upton House Music Festival.

“He is one of the world’s leading performers and the festival will be a wonderful opportunity to see him in a festival setting. He always puts on a fantastic show and I am looking forward to it immensely.”

Michael, whose new album Songs Of Cinema is out on February 10, has sold more than 60 million records worldwide.

His new album – the 27th in a career spanning 40 years – includes classics such as When A Man Loves A Woman, Stand By Me, I Will Always Love You, Cupid and As Time Goes By.

Knight to remember with Sir Bryn at festival

Newly-ennobled opera singer Sir Bryn Terfel will this year become the first Knight to perform at Upton House Music Festival in Poole.

The internationally acclaimed bass-baritone received a knighthood in the New Year Honours list.

The 51-year-old will appear at the festival on Thursday, June 8 in a classical spectacular also featuring the BSO Concert Orchestra, all-girl electric string quartet Escala and Australian soprano Lauren Fagan.

Sir Bryn, who will be performing specially-chosen classical pieces as well as a programme of popular music from the shows, said he was immensely proud, excited and daunted by his honour.

SINGING star Billy Ocean is looking forward to having a party at next year’s Upton House Music Festival in Poole.

The king of R&B is headlining the 80s Extravaganza at the three-day festival on Friday, 9 June with Kim Wilde and Toyah co-starring.

Billy said: “It’s party time at Upton House! I’m really looking forward to having a great night with all my friends in Dorset.

“My band and I will be putting on a special festival show packed with all my hits and favourites – perfect for getting everyone up and dancing.”

Trinidad-born Billy has been a mainstay of the British and international R&B scene for 40 years, has had a string of top hits and has been showered with music awards ranging from Grammys to Brits.

Bryn Terfel, one of the world’s leading opera singers, is looking forward to performing at the Upton House Music Festival next summer.

Renowned Welsh bass-baritone Bryn has performed in all the great opera houses of the world and is especially recognised for his portrayals of Figaro, Falstaff and Wotan.

He will appear at Upton House and Country Park, Poole, on Thursday, 8 June with Australian soprano Lauren Fagan, the celebrated BSO Concert Orchestraconducted by the acclaimed Gareth Jones and exciting all-female electric string quarter Escala.

Upton House Music Festival in Poole, is back on Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 June 2017 with a host of star names.

Details of the first two sensational nights have now been revealed – with the identity of Saturday’s headliner being kept strictly under wraps for the time being.

The three-night festival is held at the idyllic Upton House and Country Park in Poole, Dorset with a Classical Spectacular followed by an 80s Extravaganza and a final night starring a top international artist.

Thursday, 8 June is Classical Spectacular night with world renowned bass-baritone Bryn Terfel, Australian soprano Lauren Fagan, the celebrated BSO Concert Orchestra conducted by the acclaimed Gareth Jones and exciting all female electric string quarter Escala.

Friday, 9 June is 80s Extravaganza party night starring incomparable R’n’B superstar Billy Ocean, hugely successful singer Kim Wilde and punk princess Toyah.

A spokesman said: “We have a wonderful selection of quality entertainment to suit all tastes with three nights of open air concerts to be staged on the beautiful lawns of Upton House.
